Been spending some time on Twitter. Follow me there http://twitter.com/peties_pam

Been seeing tweets for "great" businesses using a well-known personality as a selling point. Folks it doesn't matter what big-name is attached to a company. Don't get blinded by a "big-name". In fact, be leery of any company touting a big-name celebrity.

It matters what it says in the policies and procedures of the company. Are there red flags in the P & P's? Does the Policies and Procedures contain unreasonable terms? Is there a "Termination, with or without cause" clause?

Does it mention the word "on-going"? If it does that means you can't stop working your business. If you don't continue building and working with/educating your downline the company can kick you out. And yes, that has happened to people. People who didn't read their Policies and Procedures.

Would you like to learn more? Back in 1987 I was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease. It gradually morphed into mostly Lupus. Things got so bad I my pulmonary doc sent me to pulmonary rehab which didn't do a thing for me. Eventually I elected to be a guinea pig for a new drug. That drug helped enough to at least keep me working part time. Eventually I lost access to it. That was when I met an RN who sold a supplement that I had actually heard about three years earlier. I had scoffed at the thought of a supplement doing much of anything. What I didn't understand was that supplements don't act upon diseases they actually support the immune system. Your immune system needs all the support it can get and when it gets what it needs it can do the job God designed it to do.

That supplement gave me back my life and it introduced me to network marketing. I was astounded that I could help other people like I'd been helped and make a living while being my own boss too! I was really burned out in my hospital job. It seemed to me we sent people home in much the same condition as they came in and we didn't help them change their lifestyle which is what made them sick in the first place. So the opportunity to make a difference in peoples lives thru network marketing, well, it seemed like a bit of heaven.......

Unfortunately, I had a bit to learn. That company, though the products are exemplary, isn't a five pillars company. So today I am working thru another company. I am fortunate to work with veterans in the field who graciously share their knowledge. They want to help others too.

That's what network marketing is all about. People helping people.

More Tips......

Never has there been a better time to get into network marketing. Some of the most well-known business gurus are positively identifying network marketing as a way to take charge of your life. For instance, Robert Kiyosaki, the Rich Dad Poor Dad book series author says, "If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a network marketing business."

However, if you think all MLM companies are alike, think again. There are some things to look for and questions to ask when researching MLM companies. After all, don't you want a company where you can build it big and retire? It's possible with the right company. But you need to do your research.

So when you're considering an MLM company here's some things to think about and question:

1. Will it be profitable for a part-timer? This is important because 95% of all MLM reps are part-timers. If it's not profitable for them, how will you have retention in your organization? So check out what it cost to run the business!

2. Does the company's overhead affect YOUR profit? If a company's overhead is responsible for jacking up the cost of the products it will hurt you in the long run. So look at how the company is set-up. Does the company provide a user friendly retail site for its affiliates? Or do they maintain a telephone ordering system? If, for instance, they have 200 people answering phones those 200 have to be paid salary and benefits, they need phones and computers, they have to have a building to work in, it has to be heated and cooled, etc etc etc. That's cost that will be passed on in the products. High product cost signals high company overhead. It signals danger!

3. Does the company have a user-friendly retail website? Can someone go to your retail website and easily order a product? A confusing retail website will cost you sales. (By the way, if a company has a user-friendly retail website they won't need 200 people answering phones.)

4. How many customers or affiliates signed-up under you does it take for you to earn $10,000 a month? In some companies it takes 3500 (or more). In some it only takes 350-400. Quite a difference.

5. Are there products which you can stand behind? Actually try a product or two when you are seriously researching a company. If you don't have belief in the product you can't sell it; nor can you instill enthusiasm in your organization.

6. Is it a 5 pillars company?

Learn about the 5 pillars and much more

One True Rule.....

To be successful at anything you need to:

1. know what it is you want
2. be very focused and positive
3. hang out with like-minded people

I belong to a mentoring group of MLM professionals from whom I've learned much. When you join an MLM company you agree to abide by the policies and procedures. The policies and procedures are your CONTRACT with the company. It is appalling how many people never read the policies and procedures. Would you sign a contract anywhere else in your life without reading it?

Many times the Policies and Procedures are not readily available. Definitely ask for them. NEVER, never join a company without reading the Policies and Procedures.

Do you know the KEY words in Policy and Procedure documents which mean you can never retire? Some companies use the words "ongoing" or "continued performance" in their P and P's which precludes you building it big and retiring.
